Made by hand in New Mexico, this retablo plaque honors Our Lady Undoer of Knots. An original design by the artist, her art print is decoupaged upon hand-carved pine wood in traditional form. The reverse side includes a hole for hanging and a story of the saint.

Our Lady Undoer of Knots is a reference to the Virgin Mary as she practices to untie the knots in our lives. The origin of the term hails from the 2nd century work of St. Irenaeus who speaks of Eve and Mary 'the knots of Eve's disobedience was loosed by the obedience of Mary. For what the virgin Eve had bound fast through unbelief, this did the Virgin Mary set free in Faith'. This vision of Mary, Undoer of Knots was conveyed in a famous painting by baroque artist Schmidtner. On this retablo, just as envisioned by Schmidtner, Mary is shown as the Queen of Heaven, standing upon a knotted serpent and new moon with crown of 12 stars around her head and angels passing the knots of humanity to her.
