About the Olive Branch Motif Countertop Canister
Terra cotta pottery has been a favorite in the kitchen for 10,000 years. Today, our potters still build timeless functional works from the durable clay with a contemporary style. Made in Oregon, the kitchen canister is shaped by hand on the potter's wheel, intricately painted by hand with multiple underglazes, provided with a durable lead-free clear glaze, and kiln-fired multiple times for a strong, permanent finish.
With a warm tan background and lovely, hand-painted olive branch, the Mediterranean motif has a clean-glossy shine that combines contemporary styling with old world charm. Heavy and substantial, the countertop canister stands 8.5" and holds up to 4 and 1/2 cups (36 oz)- ideal for storing coffee, sugar, seeds, and more. The handsome canister includes a companion scooping spoon, also handmade in Oregon. Cast in solid pewter, the scoop has a 1 tablespoon volume. The canister is lead-free and safe for use in the dishwasher.
Note: Each canister is made one-at-a-time. Due to the completely handmade nature of this item, slight variations in the jar size and vine pattern may occur. - What is pewter and is it safe to use with food? Pewter is a white metal alloy consisting of tin with small amounts of antimony and copper. Traditionally used for kitchenware and jewelry, modern pewter is completely lead-free and safe for use with all foods.
