About the Cherry Blossom Marquetry Jewelry Chest 

Handmade in Illinois, the Cherry Blossom Jewelry Chest is handcrafted with heirloom-quality hardwoods. The box is constructed of solid natural cherry with contrasting wenge-wood handles. A single specimen of cherry is used to assure perfect color and matching wood grains, while hidden wooden key segments are added to each mitered corner to add strength and durability.

The beautiful floral design on the lid is achieved by means of marquetry, a masterful technique of assembling thin hardwood segments to form a design. The marquetry design consists of maple, wenge-wood, lacewood and bloodwood, framing a lovely quilted maple center.

Within the chest, you'll find 4 rows of felt ring holders, brass necklace pegs (with built-in elastic pouch to protect pendants) and felt-lined rows for watches or bracelets. Two lower drawers provide more storage, each with "stops" to prevent delicate items from falling out. Within both drawers are divided felt-lined areas for bracelets, brooches and more. Each wooden division may be removed for easy cleaning or to make room for larger items. No two people have the same assortment of jewelry items, so the box easily adjusts to fit your personal collection.

Wood details : Each box is constructed of all-natural hand-polished sustainable hardwoods and provided with a premium clear finish to protect against scratches and moisture. All coloring is natural - stains are not used. The following woods are the primary types used in the creation of this jewelry chest:

-Cherry : Natural cherry hardwood is native to North America and is a very light (almost maple-like) color when new. Cherry will naturally darken over the years to reveal a reddish-brown tint.

-Quilted Maple :  Maple is a strong hardwood native to North America with a creamy color. The wavy quilted maple originates from Big Leaf Maples that flourish in Oregon.

-Wenge-wood : A non-endangered African hardwood with a dark, bold color. Due to the high density and strength of wenge-wood, it is suitable for the handles of this chest.
