About the Craftman-Style Ceramic Welcome Plaque
The American Craftsman Style, first gaining popularity in the late 19th century, represents a simple and refined form of design with an emphasis on the handmade. Inspired by ceramic work of that era, artist Janet Ontko creates clay welcome plaques with the same simple, yet refined, aesthetics.
With a mold of her own design, the pine cones welcome plaque is crafted with centuries-old techniques; each is individually hand-pressed, dried, trimmed by hand, glazed, and kiln-fired for lasting durability. The permanent antique-tan finish is a hand-mixed glaze of Janet's creation that simultaneously provides a hint of aged color and highlights the 3-dimensional aspect of the tile. Includes wire on the reverse for easy hanging. Handmade in California.
