About the Raku Mirror
The modern raku technique arises from ancient Japanese methods of exposing clay to rapid low-fire temperature changes. Raku pottery is admired for the glimmering range of metallic colors generated by the oxidation when kiln-fired. Measuring an overall 18-inches by 18-inches, the handsome beveled mirror is framed by 20 individual raku-fired tiles with a hatched herringbone design, adding subtle color and texture to any decor. For added versatility, the mirror is wired with the ability to be hung as a square or diamond shape (see alternate images). Handcrafted in Kansas.
